Charities we believe in
There are many, many good hunger charities out there. The Rice Dinner Project isn't funded by any of them. We feel this idea is bigger than one charity.
We encourage you to send your contributions to any hunger charity you'd like to support.
That said, a number of people have asked for a little guidance in selecting a good hunger charity. Here are a few we like because they use almost all of the money they receive to get food to people (as opposed to administrative costs and so on).

Your Local Food Shelf
Hunger is both a global and a local phenomenon. The current economic downturn puts local food shelves in a double bind - facing increasing need and decreasing donations simultaneously.
Consider the boost they would experience if they had a source of monthly contributions they could rely on.
